But consider Japan which is much more densely populated than the Philippines. Notice how their economy is consistently ranked second or third in the world (by GDP). I said population control is NOT the answer to poverty. Our goal should be to eliminate whatever causes poverty. Our goal should NOT be to eliminate poor people. That would be like discovering that your hand had been infected with a rash and deciding to get rid of your rash by cutting off your hand. Yes, it will get rid of the rash, but that is not the solution. Likewise, killing poor people will certainly reduce the number of people affected by poverty. But in no way will it help solve the actual problems that are causing poverty. That is why population control and other immoral means should not be employed to try and deal with the problem. Our goal should be to eliminate whatever causes poverty. Our goal should NOT be to eliminate poor people. That would be like discovering that your hand had been infected with a rash and deciding to get rid of your rash by cutting off your hand.
