When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, "Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

- Mark 10, verse 14

What We Do

Our mission is accomplished by a four fold action: feeding, caring for, education, and employing the poor.

Feeding

Feeding is first on the list of our four fold plan of action, but our ministry goals exceed merely providing food. Although we certainly intend to feed anyone in need insofar as we are able, we focus on seeking long term solutions to provide for the hungry.

Caring For

Those suffering from poverty have a wide variety of needs and so we intentionally used broad language on this point. “Caring for” includes primarily, but is not limited to, health care and shelter. As we do not have the funding to employ medical staff, we will provide health care services by paying the medical bills of qualified applicants who cannot pay for themselves. We also conduct medical missions to needy areas.

Educating

Providing education for those in poverty is one of our service strategies. This may include subsidizing tuition for qualified applicants and or providing tutors to assist in the process. We also intend to have volunteers teach conversational English classes free of charge for anyone who would like to attend. Education may also include providing free seminars to the public on issues of health, sanitation, the environment, or any other issue which may serve to improve the quality of life for those living in a state of poverty. Moral advocacy, specifically pro-life education, may also fall under this category.

Employing

Our deepest desire is to help those in poverty become self sufficient. In fact, beyond this, we believe that those who have been helped can go on to help others themselves. To this end, perhaps the most important point of our four fold action plan is this one: employing the poor. Employment is accomplished primarily through providing or assisting in the purchase of production means for qualifying individuals. This may include a food or wares stand, the initial inventory needed to begin business, and the necessary job training.

Philippine Aid Society will also open a thrift store in the Quezon City area where the benefit would be three fold: 1) those purchasing product at a significant discount 2) those employed at the thrift store and 3) Philippine Aid Society itself.
